The Nets will also receive a 2019 second-round pick that originally belonged to the Knicks, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
“We are excited about the prospects of both Jahlil and Nik, as well as adding another future asset which will aid us in our continued roster development,” Nets general manager Sean Marks said in a statement. “This trade provides us with a good opportunity to bring in two young players who were high picks in recent drafts and give them a chance to succeed in our system.”
The deal will end something of a standoff between the Sixers and Okafor, as detailed by Wojnarowski.
Philadelphia had excised Okafor from its rotation after declining its team option on him for next season, and Okafor’s representatives asked for a trade or a buyout.
Okafor was the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft and made the first-team All-NBA Rookie team, but that disappeared into the distance as he played only two games for the 76ers this season. The Sixers are undergoing a franchise renaissance, armed with young superstars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Okafor, meanwhile, had been cast aside, a casualty of a process that has moved on without him.
“I would like for them to just send me somewhere where I can get an opportunity,” Okafor told ESPN in November. “I’ve done everything they’ve asked of me, and I would just like to get an opportunity to play with a trade or a buyout. I just hope something happens quickly.
“I know it’s business, but in my eyes, I don’t know if it’s good business.”
Booker, a seven-year veteran out of Clemson, is averaging 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds in 18 games. He tweeted his thanks to Brooklyn and its fans on Thursday before the deal was announced.
It’s been real Brooklyn. Will always have nothing but love for you. Loved my time in New York!!!

Stauskas, who joined the Sixers in 2015 in a trade from Sacramento, is averaging less than 1 point per game. He has played in only six of Philadelphia’s 23 games this season.
